Thomas R. O'Marra, 68, of Manchester, the husband of Mary C. (O'Connor) O'Marra died Thursday, (September 15, 2011) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born in Danbury, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Margaret (Ward) O'Marra. He had made his home in Manchester since 1967. Tom received a bachelor's degree from Fairfield University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He retired from the Town of Manchester, where he served as the Zoning Enforcement Officer. He was the Deputy Fire Marshal for the Manchester Fire Department, Eight Utilities District. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Campbell Council and had served as Grand Knight. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Thomas O'Marra and his wife Lynn, Meaghan O'Marra, Brian O'Marra, John O'Marra, Kathleen Clapp and her husband Edward, Mark O'Marra and his wife Denise, Molly O'Marra, and Elizabeth O'Marra; his grandchildren Victoria, Ryann, Christopher, Alexis, Connor, Mikayla, Zachary, Ashlynn, and Nicholas; and many nieces and nephews. The O'Marra family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Nurses and PA's of the CICU at St. Francis Hospital for their excellent care and compassion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, (September 19) at 10 a.m. at St. James Church 896 Main St. Manchester, followed by burial in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Manchester.
