The Man, The Legend: Myles “Joe” Bailey, Jr. November 10, 1944- March 3, 2023 There are legends, and then there is Myles “Joe” Bailey, Jr. He was the man legends looked at in awe. He was affectionately called “Joe Dukes”.
Myles burst forth into the world at a whopping 10 lbs to Beneva (née Jones) and Myles Joe Bailey Sr. in Natchez Mississippi on November 10, 1944. He was the first of three children that his parents would have. Following him in birth was May “Mary” Ella and Aljay (preceded in death).
He was drafted into the United States Army after his 18th birthday in 1963. He served his requisite time and would go on to work in various vocations of metal works and mechanical engineering. His military and life’s career would take him all over the United States. He stopped long enough in his travels to fall in love and have some of the most amazing children that the world needed to know.
He leaves behind to mourn him his sister May and children Lisa Bailey-Geter, Amanda Brewer, Tizinski Bailey, and Myles Joe Bailey III. He leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and people on whom he left a lasting imprint. He leaves behind his special friend Dolores Murphy and her sons Gary Murphy and Peter Murphy. He was loved and will be missed by all who loved him.
