I was so sorry to learn about Van’s death. What wonderful memories I have of the years we worked together doing the Green Circle program for the Girl Scout Council. She was always such fun to be with. Just loved that slight southern drawl. Warm and friendly, she was a woman who left an indelible impact on many people. Sue Motycka
Dear Jim and Family: It is with deep sadness that I note the passing of your Dearest Van! I have very fond memories of Van doing Green Circle programs, to the delight of oh so many Brownies and Junior Girl Scouts. My youngest daughter often was on the sidelines as we did basic leader & program training. Linda was sure Vann was her wonderful substitute grandmother (my mother was in Washington state). Never has there been such a delightful training partner.
I have never know a kinder, gentler person. We shared various interest, including our love for Steuben Glass and a pot of tea. I recall Jane's wedding, Sarah's adventures and know that one beloved son taught Kindergarten - for which I have great admiration - a wonderful male role model for elementary students.
I can't imagine your heart ache and loss of your loved one. It has been far too long since we shared tea, however, Van will remain deep in my memory and heart. My condolences with deepest sympathy, and love,
