Obituary of Marilyn P. McFarland

Marilyn Patricia “Trish” “Nana” McFarland, 67, of East Hartford, CT passed away on August 9, 2019 at home.

Marilyn was born in Lynch, Kentucky on April 29, 1952 to the late William Owens Jr. and Bessie Mae Noble. She graduated from Rockville High School.

Marilyn was married to Gerald McFarland for over 12 years. She went on to become a hard-working single mom raising two boys.

Marilyn worked as an accounts payable clerk for Travelers for over 38 years. She enjoyed music, dancing, sewing and spending time with her family. She was a very kind and generous woman who was loving and put everyone else’s needs before her own.  She is the foundation that holds her family together, A heart full of gold, Always smiling and giving a helping hand to anyone she loved. Her spirit filled room full of joy and laughter and was definitely the life of the party.

Marilyn is survived by her two sons Jeffrey and Jason McFarland; six grandchildren, Jasmine Jones, Asia & Andre McFarland, Evan Brown, Tiara Pitman and Alana Beebe; seven siblings, Earl, Rudy, Malcolm, Thomas, Willa Stephens, Wanda Hill and Lorna Owens, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, former husband and brothers William Owens III and Darrell Owens.

The wake will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street Manchester, CT on Thursday August 15 from 4-7 p.m. Burial will follow on Friday August 16 at 12:30 p.m. at Silver Lane Cemetery, 1280 Silver Lane, East Hartford.
