Ray and the Carvey Family,
One makes an impression in sundry ways. John's was made on me at Woods Hole where I was fortunate to enjoy his company over several rounds of golf. His competitive nature was keen to be sure but it was his easy acceptance of me and my lesser game that gave me reason to draw closer to his easy demeanor, his love of the game and his love of family, especially the brother whom he loved to chide, to send down a foreboding cliff in search of an errant shot or to love as only two brothers might.
A few rounds are hardly the stuff that lasts a lifetime but it was enough for me to sense the love of life and family that was John's to share. May you always be comforted by the warm memories of a special man.
