Obituary of Leah Smith
Leah (Uzanas) Smith, 33, beloved wife of James Smith, of Manchester, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
Leah will be remembered for her bright smile, and many wonderful qualities, but most of all her unwavering kindness and determination. She was a hard worker and accomplished everything she set her mind to. She carried multiple degrees and recently became an RN at The Hospital of Central Connecticut where she worked in the Emergency Department caring for so many others as a highly knowledgeable and compassionate nurse. She was even named “Rookie of the Year” in her department. She was an outstanding athlete and found a love for Crossfit and was a “powerhouse” with her tough mudder competitions. She loved the outdoors and camping and spending time with her family, as well as traveling and seeing the world from the deck of a cruise ship. She loved to laugh and have fun, especially with her nieces and nephews to whom she was “THE BEST auntie.” She was one of the most kindhearted, loving, and non-judgmental people you’d ever meet and “lived for the moment.” Her thoughtfulness was often seen by leaving flowers on a doorstep or bringing a coffee or milkshake “just because.” She always did so much to make others happy and put everyone else before herself, no one could match her kindness. She had an artistic side that was shown when she would impress everyone yearly with her amazing Halloween makeup and costume ideas, she topped everyone. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Leah leaves behind her husband James, father Charles Uzanas of Manchester, sister Tracey Easton and her husband Ed of Manchester, brother Aron Uzanas and his wife Lisa of Manchester, mother-in-law Susan Howard of Peterborough, NH, brother-in-law Nick Duffy and his wife Martha of Peterborough, NH, nieces and nephews Cayleigh and Aubrey Easton, Noah and Martin Uzanas, Keelia, Madison, and Josie Duffy, and cousin whom she loved like a sister, Shonna Kalos of Vernon; as well as close aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother Karen (Brezinski) Uzanas. She was also the best “dog mommy” to her fur babies Rocky (her sidekick) and Molly.
