Obituary of Virginia M. McCarthy

Virginia M. (Wells) McCarthy, 80, beloved wife of the late Thomas S. McCarthy, of Manchester, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023. Born in Malone, New York, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Grace (Shannon) Wells. Virginia was an active communicant of St. James Parish for many years. She was formerly employed with John Hancock Insurance, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Walsh Enterprises. In retirement, she enjoyed playing mahjong at the senior center and having lunch with her friends.

Virginia is survived by her daughter Christine McCarthy of Peoria, Illinois; her granddaughters Jennifer Annis of Manchester, CT and Kathryn Helgeson of Peoria, Illinois; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas, her son Thomas W. McCarthy, her parents, and her sister Joanne Henry.
